Yossi_original_film_poster cFollowing a hugely successful 23rd Jewish International Film Festival, JIFF All Year Round presents an exclusive season of one of the JIFF 2012 hits. Yossi (הסיפור של יוסי) opens exclusively on Thursday 16 May at Classic Cinemas, the home of JIFF.

Since charting new territory ten years ago with the taboo tale of male Israeli soldiers in love – Yossi and Jagger (2003) – Eytan Fox has emerged as one of Israel’s most prominent and influential filmmakers. Now he returns to the story that established his career, as well as the actor who so brilliantly brought Yossi to life (Ohad Knoller), with a pitch-perfect sequel that does not require any familiarity with the original film.

JIFF Festival Director Eddie Tamir says, “It’s fantastic to be able to offer Melbourne’s culturally savvy film audiences quality international Jewish content that they can’t otherwise see on the big screen. Seeing films from countries you may only hear about in the news, and getting to know characters that you may not have understood before, can have a profound impact.”

“….An eloquent representation of Israeli society coming to terms with itself” Indiwire

Having its’ national premiere at JIFF 2012, opening the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival and screening at the 2013 Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Classic Cinemas will launch an exclusive season of Yossi on Thursday 16 May.
