Open letter to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu | Opinion

Prime Minister Netanyahu,

The peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is signed at the White House. This is your second celebration, in this same house, after the one in which you declared Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, when you announced the relocation of the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to that city. At the time, your celebration took place as the celebration of an act that contradicts not only international law, but also the position of most of the countries of the world which support the two-state solution and, as such, refused to change their embassies in Tel Aviv. in Jerusalem.

Your second celebration, that of the signing of the peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, is odd and absurd to say the least, as peace treaties are of course signed between countries in conflict and living in a state. hostility, which in this case is not. From the creation of Israel, until today, that is, more than seventy years ago, not a single bullet has been fired between the armies of the two countries. The UAE is thousands of kilometers from Israel and therefore does not share borders, so logically there is no need for conflict over it. Does mr. Is the Prime Minister, at this point, “dancing” in this celebration just to distract from both his judgment in corruption cases and the protests calling for his resignation?

Prime Minister,

The real peace agreement that Israel should deal with now is one that must be signed with the Palestinian people. This yes, essential to put an end to the wars and conflicts which have lasted for a century and which have already cost the lives of many innocent people of both peoples. But mr. The Prime Minister continues to declare and reaffirm that he no longer needs to wait to achieve peace with the Palestinians.

Mr. Prime Minister, we assure you that you will not obtain the signature of any document declaring your submission from the Palestinian people, and we advise you not to wait for it.

We Palestinians tell you that we are the people most in need of genuine peace to live with dignity alongside Israel, in our independent state, with East Jerusalem recognized as the capital. I am very sorry that the “peace deal” that Prime Minister wants the Palestinians to sign is, only and only, that of their surrender and acceptance of the imposition of occupier conditions on the occupied. . Peace cannot be achieved with the continued occupation and denial of the rights of the Palestinian people, but with its end and the cessation of the suffering of these people, through the realization of their just and just freedom, just like everyone else in the world. .

Mr. Prime Minister, we assure you that you will not obtain the signature of any document declaring your submission from the Palestinian people, and we advise you not to wait for it.
