When the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and his successor candidate, Joe Biden, begin the long-awaited first debate between the two, in the early hours of Wednesday (between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in mainland Portugal), neither of them will not be able to repeat the memorable phrase with which Ronald Reagan dispelled doubts about his advanced age, during the second debate for the 1984 election against Walter Mondale. “I won’t make age a campaign issue,” Reagan said. “I am not going to exploit the youth and inexperience of my opponent for political ends.”
